The Beginnings of Occupy Lake County |
Now Uploaded: montage of the signs (click HERE) carried in Lakeport on October 15. People from across the political spectrum occupied 6th and Main on Saturday, so there were a variety of messages on the signs. Therefore, the messages might seem "unclear" to some. HOWEVER, there was a total consistency of message, simple
and inarguable: the problem is Wall Street (our rigged financial
system). The One Percent have invested billions of media dollars in dividing this nation, because they know:
The People United Can Never Be Defeated

It was a great turn-out on Saturday in Lakeport. People from across the political spectrum, united in understanding that America's rigged economic system is the problem, and until Wall Street is fixed, nothing else in this country can be fixed.
Between 10am-noon, the number of Occupiers seemed consistent at 40-50 (for a very small town, that's huge!) Holding an Occupation on Main Street, USA, was highly appropriate. Two bailed-out banks (Chase and Bank of America) occupy that block. Our tax dollars bailed them out, and all we got was this lousy economy.
If anyone would like to report on the afternoon's turnout, please send to info@ruralvalues.org

| They say our message Is not clear We tell them Our morals are
These banksters Look down on us They say that we Should be rich like them But every one of them Would be broke and homeless If we had not Bailed them out
| So now we're here To bail ourselves out To bail out all the people The politicians sold out
People are asking What we're here to get They don't understand We're not here to get anything We're here to give everything

The Occupy Wall Street movement has
inspired America (at least, 99 percent of us!). Finally, anger and
energy is being directed at the real culprits: the financial elite who
are sucking this country dry, collecting millions in bonuses, paying
little or no taxes, and who expect the rest of us to go on picking up
the tab. As Paul Krugman pointed out, economic justice in the current
political climate is not going to happen. Therefore, the first thing
that MUST occur is, we must change the political climate! That's what
OWS has started.

October 15 (Saturday) Two Occupy Lake County events! Lakeport 10am Clearlake 2pm
There are two rallies or meetings on Sat. Oct. 15th. Our purpose is to get the word out about what's happening in New York and D.C. and now 1700+ cities and countries around the world. It is definitely a movement that is going to change the world. Since it is hitting the mainstream media even Pres. Obama is showing signs of change... They're beginning to realize where the votes are.
One rally is in Lakeport at 5th and Main, near the Bank of America - and is planned for all day, from 10:00 to 5:00
The other is in Clearlake at Old Hwy 53 and Olympic, across from Safeway. It is planned for only two hours, 2:00 to 4:00 and hopefully we'll have speakers, music, drumming and information tables. We can stay longer if desirable. Bring signs to show your issues.
So tell your friends - and bring some signs supporting the 99%. Shirley

Occupy Upper LakeSaturday October 29 from 10am - 2pm Main Street at the arch
The purpose of occupying Upper Lake is to spread the joy and
solidarity. There are no bailed-out banks in Upper Lake, it's just a really nice
small town full of 99 percenters. So lets have fun and remember that
these are all our friends and neighbors.
