These op-eds demonstrate that in 2002, smart observant people with access to the powerful and a publishing megaphone were able to correctly identify serious problems in our system and sound the alarm. They saw the icebergs ahead, and shouted "Ice berg!" yet our Ship of State was unable to change course to avoid the icebergs.
